Most of this training takes place with Texas Municipal League. You can find out about their mission on their website. TML provides many services to all the cities in Texas, including protecting our rights at the state level and providing specialized training. The importance of this training cannot be over-emphasized, it's critical in allowing your elected officials to be fully informed of all issues necessary to represent you. When speaking to your elected official, ask them if they attend training on a regular basis so that they can serve your needs in the best possible manner.

Attending TML education is so important to me that I have been recognized for seven consecutive years for education achievement. For the 2004 TML year, I was only one of 4 Council Members and Mayors in the State of Texas to receive the award of Excellence. Receiving this award has allowed the City of Frisco to also receive the Award of Leadership. Only five other cities have received this award.  Since that time, I have continued my quest to gather as much information as possible to serve the Citizens of Frisco. As I have been quoted on the TML web site, "TMLI has given me powerful tools that allow me to represent our city in a professional manner and to serve the citizens of Frisco to the best of my abilities. There is no substitute for the training afforded to city officials by TMLI. My promise to you is that I will continue attending these courses so that I am informed about all the laws and procedures in operating a City."
