Please note, the council meeting has been moved to Wednesday instead of Tuesday for this week due to National Night Out. I hope to see our community really make a good showing by being visible and letting the criminal element know that we are watching!
The agenda below has several critical items for our Council to discuss. Item 12 discusses a change in the on-street bike lanes that were planned for Panther Creek Parkway, Item 13 is the resolution adopting the certified appraisal roll followed up by item 14, which is the call for a public hearing for the FY 08 budget. And, of course, item 19 which is regarding the SH 121 issue. I will have some additional comments on this subject before the Wednesday meeting. Item 20 is a discussion about whether Frisco needs to revisit the sign ordinance. I know I have heard many comments on this subject, so you may want to send your thoughts to the Mayor and Council.
I hope everyone survived this past weekend! I know it was challenging to make all the events that were scheduled in our town. While Friday night was hectic, Saturday was one for the record books. I won't even begin to list everything that took place, but I did want to mention some notable events. The Health and Safety fair held at McKinney Park in Frisco was a huge success. Thanks are in order for all the volunteers who made it happen, GREAT JOB! My family really enjoyed the atmosphere and learning about our environment. Even though the event ran from 9AM to 1PM, it seems that there was not enough time to visit with everyone.
A casual morning/afternoon really picked up steam once the afternoon hit. I was invited to Pizza Hut Park & FC Dallas to the "Lift Up America" event. Professional Athletes and Business/Civic leaders were invited as guests to help welcome 2,000 MVP's -- The children of families served by compassionate agencies in the metroplex. We helped cheer them on in a pre-game ceremony. You should have seen the faces on these children as they ran through our welcome line, giving high-fives and hearing the applause. For many of these kids, this was once in a lifetime opportunity that they will never forget. You can read more about the event HERE.
We left Pizza Hut Park to head over to Frisco High School for the first ever Frisco Police Department vs. the Frisco Fire Department charity basketball game (which used to be called the Good vs. Good contest). Turn-out was great and the men in uniform look like pros. It looks like the Police Department will have bragging rights for this coming year as they handed our Fire Department their first ever loss, 78-69. I just want to know who hired the announcer? There was no conflict of interest there at all :-)
You would think that the evening would be over by now, but it wasn't. We left the game early and went right over to Monte Carlo Night, "An Evening Under the Stars", hosted by St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. The food was great and seeing our friends even better. Don't miss this annual event next year as I promise, you won't be disappointed.

The Community Calendar is now fully operational! You can view it on my web site or directly at the calendar web site. You can also make your own additions (subject to review), so if you know of any community events, feel free to add them!
