CONSTRUCTION WORKER BURNED AFTER CREWS CUT NATURAL GAS LINE; FIREFIGHTERS ON SCENE (July 25, 2007) A construction worker is being treated for burns and Frisco Firefighters are at the scene of a burning gas line in the 10500 block of Legacy Drive, north of Main Street.
Firefighters say Careflite transported the worker to Parkland Hospital in Dallas. His condition is unknown.
Firefighters were called to the incident at 9:35 a.m. after a
construction crew hit an 8-inch natural gas line. The line continues to
burn at this hour. Firefighters say the utility company has been alerted and no evacuations are necessary at this time.
Chief Mack Borchardt says crews were digging a trench when they accidentally hit the line and it ruptured, resulting in fire.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area, if possible.
